Nexus S receives update to Android 2.3.3, adds new NFC features ...

Google just announced that they have begun to push Android 2.3.3 to the Nexus S. The update is described as a small feature release that adds read and write APIs for the near field communications (NFC) chip inside the Nexus S. Other updates include new APIs for Bluetooth, graphics, media framework, and speech recognition.

Mysteriously missing from the Android 2.3.3 Version Notes is any mention of the random reboot bug that is affecting a portion of Nexus S owners. The problem was first identified last year and Google confirmed they were working on a fix, but I guess it is not ready at this time. We were told on January 28th that a fix for the reboot bug would be available within one to two weeks, but it does not appear that will happen.

If you own a Nexus S, look for the over-the-air update to hit your phone in the coming days. We will be on the look for the download link so that you can manually install the update if you do not wish to wait.

Some of the features of the Android 2.3.3 update include:

Google has rolled out a feature enhancing update for its Gingerbread flagship device, the Samsung manufactured Nexus S. Android 2.3.3 is the version number associated with this latest update which simply puts takes the NFC capabilities of the Nexus One successor to the next level.

The notable features listed below are ones that developers will be excited to know about:

• A comprehensive NFC reader/writer API that lets apps read and write to almost any standard NFC tag in use today.
• Advanced Intent dispatching that gives apps more control over how/when they are launched when an NFC tag comes into range.
• Some limited support for peer-to-peer connection with other NFC devices.

The update besides bringing a new API for NFC (Near Field Communication), brings new APIs for Bluetooth, graphics, media framework, and speech recognition.

One group which won't be all excited about this latest Gingerbread update will be Nexus One users. And I don't blame them for being angry on Google as the search engine giant is yet to bring the Gingerbread OTA update for the Android 2.1 flagship device. Moreover Nexus S users would be disappointed by this update as it doesn't bring the much awaited fix for the random reboot issue.

Vodafone has announced that it will soon selling the Nexus S on a contract basis in 24 countries. The carrier is black with the Nexus S in the original, and the white previously rumored.

Vodafone was one of the main carrier of Google partner for the Nexus One, and the recent announcement it will be the first airline to offer the Nexus S subsidized contract. So far the phone has only been available unlocked at retail in the U.S. and Great Britain.

I like it!
But, if I wuz Vince I wouldn’t go along with it because this is tha same Storyline that dropped the WCW’s Ratings when they fought against the WWF. Sure, WCW killed WWF with their nWo Storyline & with the nWo Hollywood/Wolfpac Feud. But, once both nWo Stables formed an alliance with each other, this is when the Ratings started to drop bcuz the fans didn’t wanna see both nWo stables befriend each other & form one big group? Each state has different rules.

As far as I know, no one has ever compiled this data and put it in to one easy to use location.

You probably could go to the Multistate Tax Commission web site but they are so pro tax they make the IRS look good.

It really is a state by state interpretation of 86-272. There has been much litigation in the area and unless the cases make it to the Supreme Court, there is no uniformity as a result.

I would study 86-272 in detail and then review your dad’s company practices. Is all they are doing is selling or are they installing or doing maintenance. If they are doing more than just a strict sales pitch then his companies probably have nexus. And if they have nexus for income taxes, they probably have nexus for sales taxes too.

If you want to study up on the issue I would find a law library and start with the Warren Gorham & Lamont treaties or see if you can get use of Commerce Clearing House or RIA tax services.

Can anyone tell me what T-Mobile’s service is like for the Nexus One? I hear that the Nexus One loads faster than the IPhone, but doesn’t that have to do with the provider?

The service will be exactly the same as it is on your current T-Mobile phone so if you have a good 3G signal in your area you’ll be OK. The Nnexus One is faster than the iPhone because it has a faster processor.

I’ve never used an iPhone, but the screen is wonderfully sensitive. it’s capacitive, just like the iPhone.
Now, as of yet, there’s no native multi-touch support, but there are apps that let you use things like the pinch to zoom feature. these should work fine. The android marketplace is available for downloading apps.

they will deff be around for a long while, especially since they have all this new merchandise now. Nexus as a group is a big draw, individually not so much. Look at Tarver and Darren Young, now that theyre out of Nexus, theyre nobodies again who dont even get TV time.
Individually they arent ready and will just get lost but as a group they are big
